On 25 March 2025, about 130 delegates participated in the Dangerous Goods workshop held in Singapore. The event was co-organized by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and SAAA@Singapore.
Proper declaration, packaging, and labelling of Dangerous Goods (DG) is essential for ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency in handling hazardous materials. The workshop highlighted common mistakes and best practices, emphasizing the importance of a safety culture. It also discussed minor discrepancies in DG declarations that do not pose safety risks and introduced DG AutoCheck, a tool for automating and verifying DG declarations. These measures help prevent accidents, ensure legal compliance, and enhance the reputation and efficiency of companies handling DG.
Trevor Howard, chairman of the IATA Dangerous Goods Board (DGB), Ben Firkins, secretary of DGB along with several DGB members, presented at the workshop.
IATA intends to conduct similar workshops in Malaysia and the Philippines this year and will continue hosting Dangerous Goods workshops throughout the Asia Pacific region to support the community in fostering a safety culture in handling hazardous materials.
